Legit British Pub....if you came for food you don't know England. Come to have fun, meet people and have great beer. The atmosphere is whatbmakes it special.

Penny Lane is everything a British pub should be! The servers were direct, straightforward but also kind and very knowledgeable. We visited on particularly busy night but still were able to get a seat. The trivia cards at the tables were extremely fun and a great way to pass the time. My partner loved the beer selection and said it reminded him of his travels overseas. Mine was also very enjoyable. The food was traditional pub food and we loved every bite! He had the fish and chip's and I had a cup of French onion and basket of fries. Simple but so good. Also a great place for people watching!

Love the vibes! Feels like a little piece of London in downtown Richmond! Got the Banger and Mash-finished it all! And if you have room for dessert, get the house bread pudding a la mode! Great place to hang out on Saturday night!

This place is like straight out of England pub wise. I'm not kidding. Note though they are diehard Liverpool so keep that in mind before you roll in there with United on. This place gets packed with Liverpool fans for major games. It's crazy unique of a place. Lots of history and such on the walls. On a more comical note if you ever have the temptation to start a fight there keep in mind where they come from. Bad idea lol. Fish and chips is my go to but I will say I absolutely loved when they had a true breakfast menu. English breakfast was stomach pleaser. Seriously you aren't going to find much more authentic English/Liverpool grub in RVA.

Was a great ambiance and atmosphere Easy to find Ample seating Good selection of drinks Darts-they need a new board and move it away from pool table Ample seating Affordable prices I'd go back

This is easily my favorite bar in Richmond and I'm here quite a lot. The atmosphere is really fun and the staff are friendly and helpful. It gets packed on the weekends and during games (especially rugby). I love the upstairs area, where you can shoot pool or darts in the evenings. The food is pretty great as well. It comes out really fast, which is always a plus, and the menu has a great selection of British pub classics. I have to opt for the grilled cheese though, it is AWESOME. Garlic butter on the sides and tons of cheese. The beer is great as well, really good English and Scottish selection. Especially great if you're a fan of red ales, I find that the local reds are not quite up to par. It's a really fun neighborhood bar with really cool people, stop in! Especially if you're looking for a bar to make your regular.

"Penny Lane, is in my ears and in my eyes A four of fish and finger pies" Penny Lane Pub We had an excellent dinner here last night. Katie was our server and she was amazing! The place was crowded and she had quite a few tables. She was equally attentive to us all and soooo friendly. There was another server and herself working the room and they both were excellent. The FOOD- For apps my husband got the French onion soup and we shared the curry fries. I will dream about those fries. Outstanding! I ate probably the best fish and chips I've had in a while! Batter was perfection and fish was tender. The tartar sauce was super tasty and had a nice garlicky kick. My husband got the cottage pie and he loved it. He's picky mind you and in spite of throwing the peas off, which he hates, he ate the entire thing (I ate the peas) For dessert we had the house made bread pudding and pecan pie both served a la mode. Yum! That's it, just yum! The decor is kitschy but in a good way. The entire experience from the man that chatted with us at the door, to the host that seated us and the amazing food and service at an extremely affordable price was as good as it gets! We will definitely be returning!

Penny Lane is definitely a very cute hole-in-the-wall vibe, but there's something a little more special about it! It's very cool to walk into, then there's a bar downstairs, and if you go toward the back, there's a staircase to take you up to another bar and pool table, and a chill vibe with some comfy chairs/tables etc. I was only making a pit stop and got a rail (very fair priced!) and the Spinach Artichoke Dip--it was SO good. It's the more like puréed type dip, where it doesn't have giant chunks of artichoke in it, which is my favorite kind. So flavorful, and the crispy pita rounds were perfect to dip. Though I had been for drinks before, it was my first time trying food, I look forward to making it a point to get back to trying more menu items.

Enjoyed a nice dinner here with my wife. The outside architecture doesn't scream British pub, but the inside pub area certainly does! The first room you enter into from the outside has a fountain, table seating, a phone booth and stained glass lighting. Once you walk through that front room you are finally feeling like you're in a pub! The ceilings are decorated with mugs, soccer team scarves and the walls have all kinds of British inspired pictures and mugs. They had several TV's around the bar area playing British Premier League games. We were seated in a side room that had some pew seating and tables. TV's were hung in the corner or the room. The server was nice and everything came out fast. Their tap list consisted of mostly British beer which was great! You don't get to drink fresh beers from Fullers or Well's at most bars. They also had a beer local to the area and Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA which is one of my favorite West Coast IPA's, Food wise we wanted to try typical pub dishes of Bangers N Mash - English sausages with gravy and garlic mashed potatoes & vegetable medley along with Fish N Chips - Flaky white fish deep fried in our homemade beer batter & served with fresh chips. We also grabbed some Bavarian Pretzels to go for the kids to snack on later. Both meals were good. The sausages had a nice snap to their skin and the fish was a very big portion. They were both made very well and were fresh. We had a great little date night here. The patrons were friendly, the beer was fresh and the food was good. I'd definitely return if I was in the area. Thanks guys!
